JKS announces International Women's Day panel series

A restaurant group has announced a series of new panel discussions in honour of International Women's Day (8 March).

JKS Restaurants, which owns and operates brands including Gymkhana, BAO and Sabor, will host 'The Women That Make Us' panel event at x+why, The Orchard, on Monday 11 March.

Bringing together a group of women from across the group's restaurants, as well as keynote speaker and founder of Be Inclusive Hospitality Lorraine Copes, the panel will focus on a series of conversations that discuss each panellist's professional journey, the impact they've made and the importance of continuing to empower women in hospitality.

The talks

The event will run from 3pm to 6pm, with all proceeds from ticket sales going to Refuge, the largest UK domestic abuse organisation for women.

The first panel, 'Setting the Scene', will focus on progress made in establishing inclusive environments for women in the hospitality industry. The second panel, 'In the Spotlight', will give attendees a chance to hear from women working in and supporting service, as they reflect on past successes and future opportunities for creating empowering, inclusive spaces for women. Copes will round off the afternoon of talks with her insights on inclusivity within the wider hospitality industry.

Sunaina Sethi (pictured), co-founder and people director at JKS Restaurants, comments: "We are fortunate to have some incredibly inspiring women in our business and we are thrilled to be celebrating them with our first JKS International Women's Day event. Alongside the work we are doing internally on equality, diversity and inclusion, we wanted to take this opportunity to showcase the women who make us. By giving them the platform to talk about their journeys, we hope to inspire more women to view hospitality as a fulfilling and viable career option."
