Franklin & Baines to open in Clapham

A British and American steakhouse and cocktail bar brand will open in Clapham on 5 March.

Franklin & Baines is the brainchild of restaurateur Olivier Cohen, owner of south London French steak restaurant Bordelaise, and leisure entrepreneur Ashley Letchford, notable for the successful London pub chain The Jam Tree.

Located in the heart of Clapham High Street, the concept offers its take on food from Britain and America, with a big focus on grilled steaks and a roof terrace set to open later in the spring.

Signature dishes come in the form of 'Smalls' such as BBQ corn ribs and ceviche. 'Big' plates include a classic chicken Caesar salad, pan-fried hake with seasonal vegetables and a roasted spiced cauliflower with crispy capers, cauliflower purée and pickles. In the 'Grill' section, guests will find steaks including flat iron, rump, sirloin, T-bone and a tomahawk for two. Steaks start at £18.50 for 200g.

The cocktail list will feature creations such as Franklin's Rose, featuring Bombay Sapphire gin with rose liqueur, grapefruit and lemon; a Newfoundland Fashioned with Bourbon, pine maple and juniper bitters; and Peanut Chocolate with peanut-infused Bourbon, sweet vermouth, cacao liqueur and chocolate bitters. There will also be a wine list featuring bottles from around the globe.
