RIO Brazilian Steakhouse announces Edinburgh opening date

Diners in Edinburgh will soon be able to experience authentic Brazilian churrasco dining, as a Brazilian steakhouse brand prepares to open its first Scottish venue.

RIO Brazilian Steakhouse will open its doors in the Scottish capital on Friday 9 February, taking over a 150-cover restaurant within the Assembly Rooms on George Street – a space formerly occupied by Jamie's Italian

RIO will welcome guests to enjoy cuts of meat carved tableside in traditional rodizio style while watching chefs prepare authentic dishes in a central sushi bar and tucking into unlimited gourmet salads.

The group's expansion north of the border follows RIO's success in England, marking its 8th location since the brand was founded in Jesmond in November 2019. The Edinburgh venue will join the existing Newcastle Quayside, Middlesbrough, Durham City Centre, Warrington, Chester and York branches.

Rodrigo Grassi, co-owner of the brand, comments: "It's an exciting moment for us to announce RIO's arrival in Edinburgh on the 9 February, bringing our unique concept to Scotland for the first time. We look forward to welcoming our first guests through the doors in a month's time in true Brazilian fashion, with plenty of good food, drink and celebration."
