Chef Adebola Adeshina creates Heritage Social Group

Chef Adebola Adeshina has announced the creation of an umbrella company to oversee his growing restaurant estate, which includes two new establishments.

Part of the new Heritage Social Group (HSG) is the award-winning, Michelin Guide fine dining restaurant The Chubby Castor in the village of Castor, near Peterborough, which was awarded its third AA rosette last year.

At The Yard Castor, which opened two years ago in the garden of the Chubby Castor, plans are underway to create a heated undercover area that will enablethe space to stay open all year round. It is anticipated to reopen this spring, with both indoor and outdoor seating.

HSG also plans to launch an artisan bakery and café over two floors in Grantham Market Place, Lincolnshire. It will be open seven days a week, also launching this spring. Westgate Bakery will have a 60-seater licensed café.

Opening in 2025, the second new venue from HSG will be Westgate 1852 – a brasserie serving modern dishes in a relaxed setting at the historic Westgate Hall in Grantham.

With a 70-seater restaurant downstairs and a private dining room for 40 guests, plus a cocktail bar, lounge, wine shop and open kitchens, the space is being designed to be respectful of the building, with minimal alterations.

Regenerating Grantham

The news follows the announcement that Grantham town centre will benefit from a £4.1m regeneration project, funded by the government's Future High Streets Fund, alongside other works.

Adeshina will recruit new teams for his venues, creating an additional 30 jobs overall.

"After two years – and summers of typically unpredictable weather – the demand is to move from The Yard being seasonal to all-year-round, so the team there can deliver creative twists on classics and a cocktail menu, using produce grown from our own garden, whatever the weather and at affordable prices.

"Significant investment is going into the regeneration of Grantham and we are thrilled to be part of it. We believe in the Lincolnshire town and see the opportunities its renaissance provides. That's why we are creating two new vibrant eateries for local people to enjoy and that we are so confident will help draw people into Grantham itself."
