Lina Stores coming to Shoreditch in September

A London-based Italian restaurant and delicatessen concept will take over a grade II-listed building on Shoreditch High Street this September.

Lina Stores' new ground-floor restaurant will have a capacity for 87 covers, serving an Italian-inspired breakfast menu alongside fresh, handmade pasta, antipasti, secondi and dolci from lunch through to dinner.

The basement will see the second iteration of Bar Lina, Lina Stores' aperitivo bar, debut in east London.

The venue has been designed to complement the building's history, preserving many of its original Victorian architecture and features – including the timber and mosaic flooring of the banking hall.

The Lina Stores experience

The morning menu at Lina Stores includes a selection of sweet and savoury options, such as maple-roasted granola with yoghurt and berries, truffle scrambled egg with sourdough and Tuscan sausage and fried egg panino, served alongside strong espresso and freshly squeezed juices.

Moving into lunch and dinner, the menu will kick off with a range of antipasti, including sea bream crudo with fennel, lemon, basil and olive oil, Stracciatella and anchovies and grilled bruschetta. These will be followed by signature pasta dishes, including spinach and Ricotta Tre Latte Gnudi and Spaghetti alla Chitarra with Amalfi lemon and pink peppercorns, along with Truffle Taglioni and Pappardelle with Lamb Sausage Ragù.

New dishes on the secondi menu include Luganega sausage with spring greens, chilli and garlic, alongside grilled hispi cabbage with porcini butter, pine nuts, grana padano and black truffle, whilst dolci such as the signature Lina Stores tiramisù as well as home-made ice creams and sorbets, will also be offered.

A wine list featuring organic and biodynamic bottles form all corners of Italy – including Piedmont, Tuscany, Campania and Veneto – will be available.

Masha Rener, Lina Stores' head chef, comments: "Very much like Soho, Shoreditch has a rich food history and the East End welcomed many Italian immigrants over the years. Combined with the stunning architecture of this former banking building, it really did confirm to us that Shoreditch is the perfect home for Lina Stores. We are very excited to also add Bar Lina to what is already a hugely vibrant bar scene."
