Native Burger launches in Launceston

Philip Warren Butchers (PWB) and Luke Taylor, PWB head of operations and former head of food at Hubbox, have launched a new concept, Native Burger, in Launceston.

The low-key 20-seater burger shop has taken over the site that originally housed the butcher brand in Launceston. Butchers and graziers since 1800, the PWB business has since moved to a larger site on the outskirts of the town. Through the launch of Native Burger, the team hopes to play a part in reinvigorating the local community, drawing on Launceston's history as a historic market town and 'the gateway to Cornwall'.

Working exclusively with farmers in the south-west and handling only grass-fed indigenous breeds, PWB meat is used by some of the UK's most celebrated restaurants, including The Ledbury, Ikoyi and Paul Ainsworth at No6.

Dining at Native Burger

Native Burger exclusively showcases Philip Warren meats in a concise menu featuring burger shop classics like cheeseburgers, fried chicken and loaded fries, but with provenance of product paramount to the offering.

Beef from the butchers, just a mile down the road, is expertly dry-aged and taken from sirloin and rump. Options include the Twisted Fire Starter (£7.50), featuring a beef patty and pepper jack cheese with lettuce, jalapeño, onion and sriracha mayo; and The Workout (£13.50), including a double beef patty and pulled beef brisket with bacon crumb, lettuce, BBQ sauce and mayo.

Guests can enjoy PWB chicken too, in dishes like the Finger Lickin' Chicken (£9.50), which sees buttermilk fried chicken topped with mayo and lettuce. Buttermilk Fried Chicken Tenders (from £5.95) can be ordered as either Plain Jane, with the guest's dip of choice; Sweet & Sticky, coated in BBQ sauce and topped with crispy fried onions and chives; or All Fired Up and smothered in south-west sauce, pickled red onion and coriander.
