Daddy Bao to open bar in Tooting

A Taiwanese neighbourhood restaurant in Tooting will launch a downstairs bar in September.

The team at Daddy Bao have transformed the hidden basement storeroom to accommodate the subterranean drinking den, Good Measure, providing an intimate, candlelit space with 15 seats where punchy cocktails with a Taiwanese twist will be served.

Inspired by the burgeoning cocktail scene in Taipei, Good Measure will offer an eclectic range of drinks using ingredients found throughout Taiwan – think Old Fashioned infused with peanut whisky or a Bellini enhanced by umami miso notes. 

Other serves include the Cream of Matcha, featuring gin, sake, lemon, matcha and Greek yoghurt; Apricot Affair with plum sake, yuzu sake, Cocchi Americano and apricot brandy; Plum Green with plum sake, whisky, green tea, lime and tonic; and the Taipei Sour, featuring plum, lemon, guava and cinnamon syrup. 

The bar will also offer a selection of mocktails and Taiwanese bar snacks.
