Fallow St James's secures B Corp certification

A critically acclaimed restaurant in London St James's has been awarded B Corp certification.

The team behind root-to-stem, nose-to-tail restaurant Fallow champions modest, often discarded British ingredients, placing sustainability at Fallow's core since first launching as a pop-up on Heddon Street in early 2020.

Through an 18-month process, co-founders Jack Croft, Will Murray and James Robson assessed every part of the business and how they could better it for social purposes with guidance from Jenn McGarrigle at CYD Connects. The accreditation formally recognises everything the team is doing to promote social and environmental wellbeing, from minimising food waste and exemplifying the importance of sourcing locally to supporting prospective and current employees from underserved groups.

"Serving British ingredients at the utmost quality is central to Fallow's ethos, as is the importance of keeping our staff happy and supporting them in whatever way we can," says Robson. "Going through this process with Jenn at CYD Connect has been eye-opening. She helped us address every part of our business and think even more about how we balance purpose with profit in everything we do.

"As business owners, we all have a responsibility to think and do more for our planet and people and I'd urge others in our sector to go through the B Corp process and join over 2,000 businesses in the UK in securing the accreditation. Our pursuit of perfection across everything we do is paramount and earning B Corp status is by no means an end goal for us. It has pushed us to continue reflecting on our processes and identifying more and more ways in which we can better ourselves for the greater good."
