Premium Japanese-Peruvian concept to launch at Trafford Centre

Nichi, a Japanese dining experience with a Peruvian twist, will open a new 3,000 sq ft site at the Trafford Centre in October.

Nichi's new flagship restaurant will offer a high-end, immersive dining experience. Diners will be able to indulge in a wide range of Japanese delicacies paired with an extensive selection of fine wines and sakes, including sushi, ceviche, robata sticks, wagyu, tableside flambé and an all-day omakase menu. Bento boxes will also be served at lunchtime.

The homegrown Mancunian brand will be led by head chef Kentaro Yanagisawa, coming from renowned restaurants Sexyfish and Nobu, and Nichi's managing partner coming from Zuma. At the brand's debut branch, diners can also expect a resident DJ on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.

Nichi will form part of Trafford Centre's new-look dining area the Upper Orient. Designed to blend both a traditional and contemporary Asian aesthetic, the space complements Trafford Centre's premium retail offering.

"Retail destinations are about so much more than shopping, however, while there are plenty of high-end stores, there are often not as many high-end dining experiences," says Vanessa Mornet, managing partner at Nichi. "Our aim is to be a pioneer and elevate the food offering found within UK shopping malls, and Trafford Centre provides the ideal platform to do just that. From the premier retail offering to the free parking, Trafford Centre is the perfect location for our flagship site."
