Sri Lankan street food concept confirmed for Covent Garden

This summer, Eroshan and Aushi Meewella will open ADOH!, a new Sri Lankan street food concept in the West End.

Set on Covent Garden’s Maiden Lane, ADOH! will draw inspiration from Sri Lanka's colourful roadside eateries. Building on the success of their Kolamba restaurants – first launched on Kingly Street in Soho in 2019, and followed by Kolamba East in Shoreditch in 2024 – the Meewellas will now bring another facet of their culinary heritage to London.

The ADOH! experience

Designed for casual dining, the 70-cover space will be walk-in only, welcoming guests for both lunch and dinner, seven days a week.

Named after a popular Sri Lankan exclamation, often used in greeting or surprise, ADOH! will offer comforting favourites, designed for quick, hearty eating. Central to the restaurant’s offering will be kothu, a dish of chopped roti, vegetables and eggs, tossed together on a grill and finished with curry sauce. Derived from the Tamil word meaning ‘to chop’, the kothus at ADOH! will be available in four different versions: crab, chicken, mutton and jackfruit – and served just as they are in Sri Lanka.

Further menu items will include snacks like chilli prawn toast with tamarind sauce, a coastal favourite typical of Galle’s street corners; crispy mutton rolls; devilled sausages; and Vadai, savoury lentil doughnuts served with tomato, coconut and mint chutneys.

Guests will also be able to enjoy fried chicken with curry leaf waffle, a nostalgic addition inspired by Aushi’s childhood, as well as a local favourite Chinese-style seafood fried rice.

For dessert, a salted jaggery soft serve brings a playful take to the ice-cream van favourite, featuring the traditional, caramel-like syrup from the island. To wash it all down, ADOH! will offer the customary Sri Lankan pairing of draught beer, as well as a concise selection of wine, cocktails and soft drinks.
