Coal Office prepares for launch of rooftop terrace

This week marks the launch of a new rooftop destination at a venue created by chef-owner Assaf Granit.

Located in King's Cross, London, Coal Terrace from Coal Office opens on Saturday, 29 June. It will offer 360-degree views of Regent's Canal and Coal Drops Yard.

Spanning both the rooftop and ground-floor entrance of Coal Office, the terrace follows the canal curve along the landscaped Bagley Walk. The space is adorned with olive, bay and lemon trees, which complement the monochrome palette of stainless steel, natural marble and pale tiling.

Dining at Coal Terrace

Executive chef Dan Pelles has designed a menu inspired by the food of Jerusalem. It features a selection of charcuterie and pickles served with pita, as well as a bluefin tuna sashimi with Morris vinaigrette, based on a salad recipe from one of the chef's grandfathers. Other highlights include fried Greek cheese with tomato jam and chilli, served on a seeded cracker; and freshly-baked pretzel bread made in-house, with dipping sauces of labneh with tomato, tahini with Schug and Silan with za'atar also available.

The menu will be paired with cocktails such as the Basil Smash with gin, basil, Italicus and Israeli white wine, along with a selection of Mediterranean wines.

Granit says of the upcoming opening: "We've designed Coal Terrace as a space where guests can find a sense of calm in the city and enjoy a more casual menu than Coal Office."
