Rosa's Thai York launching in June

High street restaurant group Rosa's Thai will open in York on 1 June.

Located on Coney Street in the historic city centre, the upcoming launch will mark the brand's 29th opening, with founder Saiphin Moore having opened the original venue on London's Brick Lane alongside her husand back in 2007.

The chain currently serves its signature Thai dishes to guests in London, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff and Liverpool. The York venue will be led by long-standing Rosa’s team members – and husband and wife duo – GM Mumu and head chef Moi, who have been an integral part of the Rosa’s Thai family since its launch in Leeds back in 2019.

The 80-cover restaurant will reside in an 18th century building next to the city's historic Mansion House, retaining many of the building's original features. The site also boasts an enclosed courtyard for al fresco dining, open for lunch and dinner seven days a week.

Menu highlights include pad Thai and Thai green curry, as well as Rosa's cult favourites drunken noodles, and stir-fried aubergine with yellow bean sauce, chilli, soy sauce and sweet basil.

Vegetarian and vegan diners will also be well catered for, with options such as sweetcorn cakes with kaffir lime and butternut red curry with basil also available, along with a dedicated children's menu, and a selection of halal and gluten-free dishes.

To celebrate the opening, Rosa’s Thai York is offering diners 50% off their food bill during its soft launch from 30 to 31 May.

Of the launch, managing director Gavin Adair comments: "We're delighted to bring Rosa's Thai to York this May – it has been a long time coming and we can't wait to showcase Saiphin's delicious Thai dishes to the local community."
