Chotto Matte announces global expansion
Japanese–Peruvian fusion restaurant Chotto Matte has announced plans for further global expansion, following two successful openings in 2022.
The brand launched in Soho in 2013, introducing London to Nikkei cuisine for the first time. Chotto Matte founder Kurt Zdesar recently announced the group's plans for growth, with new locations planned for the United States, the Middle East and the UK.
Chotto Matte offers a fresh take on fine dining, with the current estate including branches in Soho, Miami, Toronto, Doha and a second London site in Marylebone.
The brand’s menu is led by global executive chef Jordan Sclare (pictured left). The Tokyo to Lima-inspired cocktail collection is part of its signature offering, with an exclusive selection of serves per site, developed to showcase local trends and produce. Each sub-collection channels the essence of its location and gives a distinctive flair to each restaurant.
All upcoming sites will be designed by award-winning architect and long-standing brand partner Andy Martin Architecture (AMA). Prominent features will include Japanese lava stone, exotic foliage and striking art installations, inspired by Tokyo’s contemporary urban culture.
Opening dates penned are: Riyadh, November 2023; San Francisco, Q3 2023; Beverly Hills, Q1 2024; Manchester, summer 2024; Nashville, TBC 2024; and Philadelphia, TBC 2024.
Kurt Zdesar (pictured right), founder of Chotto Matte, comments: "We believe that our concept has a global appeal and we are excited to bring Chotto Matte to new audiences around the world. We chose these locations as our expansion destinations because they are all international hubs with a diverse and cosmopolitan population. Each location presents a unique opportunity to showcase our offering and adapt it to the local culture and tastes."
