Mollie's Diner launches career pathway

Mollie's Diner has launched a career pathway structure to help its employees grow and develop their skills and experiences within the company and beyond.

To support their personal development and contribution to the success of the business, each employee is provided with guidance and structure based upon monthly, quarterly and annual activities. Mollie's career pathway programme aims to bring people into hospitality with a focus on a longstanding career rather than just a job.

The career pathway is not predicated on role-specific tasks; instead, it provides a structured plan that enhances an employee's understanding of the business. Areas such as leadership, people development, communication, finance and many other important strands culminate in a support structure that will help shape an individual's future career. Each pathway contains threads of mental health awareness, equality, diversity and inclusion, and sustainability, which align with the key cultural focuses and values of the business.

Mollie's is also working with local community education partners to offer an apprenticeship scheme within some of the pathways, providing a personal qualification alongside other development opportunities.

The company regularly surveys its team members to understand what is important to them and close to 90% of employees expressed a desire to grow and develop, something the career pathway aims to deliver.

Mollie's believes that empowered staff are essential for delivering exceptional experiences for guests. The company is committed to attracting, retaining and nurturing talent of the future and sees the career pathways structure as an essential commitment to support this goal.

The importance of talent development planning in the hospitality industry cannot be overstated. Mollie's wants to lead the way in this regard, and the launch of its career pathway structure is a testament to its commitment to the development and growth of its employees.

Trudi Parr, head of people and development at Mollie’s, has worked with the department heads across the company to develop this programme. She says: "As the hospitality industry continues to evolve, programs such as this will be critical in attracting and retaining top talent, driving success and creating memorable experiences for customers."
