The Gaff opens in Bath

The Gaff has opened its doors on Milsom Place in Bath. Following the successful launch of The Gaff in Abergavenny in 2019, owners Danielle Phillips and Dan Saunders have launched a restaurant and bar in the heart of the Georgian city, offering a daily-changing menu of small plates.

Taking its name from the Irish slang for ‘home’, The Gaff offers a 30-cover restaurant with a 16ft open kitchen, as well as a four-seat Chef’s Table and a private dining room, The Cwtch, which seats six guests.

The menu features such signature dishes as sticky lamb shoulder on a sourdough crumpet with housekeeper's sauce, middle white pig with charcuterie sauce and pickled cabbage, and miso aubergine with soy, ginger and shiso. Dessert options include the Gaffa Cake, rhubarb trifle, and caramel panna cotta with popcorn and praline.

Danielle Phillips, co-owner of The Gaff, comments: "For us, food is all about people coming together for a shared experience, so we want The Gaff to embody this, from the dishes themselves to the service and environment. While innovative and intricate, all of our dishes are inspired by memories and moments in our team’s lives. They take diners on a nostalgic journey that we hope will trigger their own food memories, whether home comforts from childhood or new experiences on their travels. Our guests can expect the warmest of welcomes and we encourage as much social interaction as possible. We’re so excited to have joined Bath’s revitalised hospitality scene and hope to contribute something special to this incredible city."
