Carmel signs for second site in Fitzrovia
A Mediterranean restaurant and bar has signed for a second site in London's Fitzrovia, following the success of its debut venue in Queen's Park.
Carmel's second restaurant in the capital will reside at 7–8 Market Place, a 5,000 sq ft venue with 95 covers. The restaurant's operator, which also owns Berber & Q in East London and Shawarma Bar in Exmouth Market, has signed a 15-year lease for the site.
Set to open this spring, the restaurant will feature an open kitchen, a bar and 'The Garden Room', seating up to 30 guests in a naturally-lit space adorned with plenty of greenery. Outside, there will be a terrace accommodating up to 38 guests.
Josh Katz, founder of Carmel, comments: Carmel in Queen's Park has become such a cherished, local favourite and we wanted to bring a sense of this to central London. The menu will continue to focus on the Eastern Mediterranean cuisine which I love, but with a bigger kitchen space, we can explore more with our menu."
