Comptoir Group reports year of growth and expansion

The owner and operator of Lebanese, Middle Eastern and North African-inspired restaurants has published its audited accounts for the week ended 31 December 2023, with group revenue hitting £31.5m – up by 1.4% (2022: £31m) and 1.3% like-for-like.

Comptoir Group also saw total system sales of £42.4m, a surge of 6.7% (2022: £39.8m), with like-for-like growth of 3%.

Gross profit for the company hit £24.7m, ahead of last year by £0.3m (2022: £24.4m).

Expanding the estate

A series of new openings have boosted group-wide profits, with new venue launches in Ealing (2023) and Southbank (2024), as well as Cheshire Oaks switching from a franchised to equity model and opening a new Shawa franchise in Abu Dhabi. The brand currently operates from 28 locations, including 22 managed and six franchised.

Beatrice Lafon, non-executive char for the group, says of the results: "By summer 2024, a brand-new senior leadership team will be in place to allow the group to scale to new heights.

"We remain cautious about 2024 as costs and prices continue to rise in high single and double digits and footfall remains both challenging and erratic. We are focused on executing our plan well, to be in a strong position to capitalise on any demand recovery.

"The business enters 2024 with renewed energy and a new team, a balanced portfolio of brands and locations and a strong cash position."
