Pizza Pilgrims expands to Cardiff

An independent pizza chain has confirmed that its latest site will launch in Cardiff city centre on Wednesday, 16 August.

To celebrate the group's upcoming opening, Pizza Pilgrims will be giving away 1,000 free slices of pizza to guests on Monday, 5 August, from 12pm.

The Pizza Pilgrims team has served the brand's Neapolitan-style pizza across London and beyond since 2012. Its signature 72-hour double-fermented pillowy dough makes the pizzas light and chewy. The Cardiff site will offer the same variations on much-loved classics, including the Margherita Extra-Extra – a classic Margherita with added Piennolo tomatoes, a whole creamy burrata and fresh basil pesto; as well as the Carbonara pizza, topped with guanciale, Pecorino, egg yolk and finished with strands of al dente pasta.

Bringing the Amalfi Coast to Cardiff

The Cardiff pizzeria has been designed to transport guests to the Amalfi Coast. The interior features brightly coloured tiles, a bar reminiscent of a beachfront shop, a speedboat booth table and a fizzy water fountain, all centred around Pizza Pilgrims' giant pizza oven.

Outside, giant striped awnings will wrap around the corner opposite Cardiff Castle, creating a terrazza where guests can enjoy slices and spritzes in the sun. The venue offers 90 covers indoors and an additional 48 outside, with additional space for bookings and walk-ins.

"We're over the moon to be joining Cardiff's thriving restaurant scene," says co-founder James Elliot. "The city has a fantastic Italian food heritage, and we can't wait to bring a slice of Napoli to Cardiff. Our goal is to create a fun, welcoming pizzeria where people can enjoy great food and feel like they're on holiday in southern Italy."
