Pizza Hut moves to handcrafted dough

An internationally known pizza brand is replacing all classic doughs with new, handcrafted dough bases.

Pizza Hut's new Handcrafted range features sourdough-style dough, hand-stretched in-house and topped with garlic sprinkles.

Staff have been retrained in the art of Handcrafted, with 23,000 practice pizzas stretched in preparation for today's launch (15 July).

Brand-new recipes

Along with the dough, Pizza Hut has launched three limited-edition pizza options for customers to choose from: Chicken Fajitas, Pepperoni & 'Nduja and the Spicy GOAT, all of which are available alongside classics such as the Margherita, Meat Feast, Pepperoni Feast and the Supreme Range.

In taste tests conducted by Welwyn Research Limited, 75% of participants said the Handcrafted dough tasted better than the classic dough base, and 92% said they'd purchase the pizza over the classic dough range.

"We are pizza fanatics and everything we do is about creating great-tasting pizza," says Nicolas Burquier, managing director of Pizza Hut. "It's why we're so proud of this new, handcrafted pizza dough – and we can't wait for you to taste it. Pizza Hut has delivered for millions of people for decades – but you only stand the test of time if you keep doing things differently."
