Brother Marcus confirms fifth site

A modern Eastern Mediterranean restaurant brand has confirmed that its fifth site will launch in September.

Brother Marcus is set to bring the flavours of Greece, Turkey and Cyprus to its new restaurant in London's Covent Garden. Known across the capital for its brunch and small plate offer, Brother Marcus Covent Garden will be the brand's biggest site to date, providing two terraces that overlook The Yard between Mercer Street and Upper St Martin Lane.

Established by three friends in 2016, the brand now has restaurants in Angel, Borough Yards, South Ken and Spitalfields Market. The menu takes inspiration from one of the founders' Cretan heritage, using recipes passed down through generations.

The new space will have two bars, one on each floor, with high seating and hand-crafted cocktails that retain the brand's signature flavours of Eastern Mediterranean herbs, spices and liquors. The restaurant will also offer a long list of Greek wines.

Weekdays at the two-floor venue will start with breakfast before moving into all-day mezze. Weekends centre on brunch, served until 4pm when the menu switches to sharing plates.

Morning dishes include sweet potato fritters, smokey shakshuka, fried chicken rosti and breakfast pitas with fillings of labneh, Kasundi jam, kofta, eggs, spinach and feta.

Later in the day, guests can choose from larger seasonal sharing plates including pan-fried halloumi with watermelon jam and mint, crispy aubergine skewer with shatta herb sauce, labneh and grape molasses, pan-seared bream with almond and dill gremolata, and roast chicken with sun-dried tomato harissa, fresh herb salad, labneh and nigella seeds.

The site will also offer Marcus' Choice, a specially curated set menu and a pre-theatre menu of the Rip & Dip platter + two mezze dishes for £25 from 5–8pm Tuesday to Friday.

On behalf of Longmartin Properties Ltd, Abi Labbett, asset manager at CBRE, comments: “Brother Marcus’ selection of The Yards to launch its flagship location and first in central London further endorses our position as one of the finest day-to-night F&B offerings in the capital.  This signing nearly completes our strategy of creating a critical mass of leading global concepts delivering authenticity, vibrance and choice, with only one grab-and-go style unit available.”
