Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer to land in London
A gourmet burger joint known for its classic New York-style burgers and trademark CrazyShake® milkshakes will open its inaugural site in the UK this autumn.
Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer will debut at Westfield Stratford City, with the launch closely followed by a second flagship site in Soho, London, in early 2025.
Founded in 2015 by Chris Barish and Julie Mulligan, the first branch opened as a small 15-cover venue in New York's SoHo neighbourhood. Black Tap now has seven sites across the US and 20 outposts worldwide.
Black Tap Westfield
The 100-seat restaurant in Westfield will be inspired by the original New York site, adorned with the brand's distinctive striped monochrome floors and walls decked in vibrant street art. The menu will centre on Black Tap's award-winning craft burgers and chicken sandwiches, served alongside a selection of snacks and sides – including Korean BBQ wings. The offering will also feature burger salads, vegan dishes and vegetarian sides.
The brand's CrazyShake® milkshakes – featuring toppings such as slices of cake, cotton candy clouds and cookies – have garnered a cult following and become a viral sensation. As ever, craft beer will continue to be part of the Black Tap DNA, showcasing limited-edition Black Tap brews alongside a curated list of cocktails mixed and shaken to order.
Diners will be greeted by a signature playlist featuring hip-hop artists from the 80s and 90s, including De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest and Run DMC.
"Next year will mark 10 years since we began Black Tap, which felt like the perfect time for us to bring everything we're known for to the UK," say the founders. "For us, London has always been somewhere we saw Black Tap growing. The underground culture has a lot in common with the NYC vibe from the 80s and 90s, so we're very excited to see this dream become a reality."
