Luxury West African restaurant opens in Marylebone

Located on Baker Street in the heart of London's Marylebone, Shakara offers a premium West African dining experience.

Spanning 6,000 sq ft and set over two floors, the space opens to a main restaurant and leads to a cocktail bar, stage and private dining area. The restaurant offers a schedule of live performances and resident DJs playing Afrohouse, Afrobeats, R&B and house.

Dining at Shakara

At the kitchen's helm is head chef Victor Okunowo, previously of West African restaurant Talking Drum, working alongside consultant executive chef Ayo Adeyemi, formerly of Michelin-starred West African restaurant Akoko.

The menu draws inspiration from the culinary traditions of Nigeria, Ghana and The Gambia, with Adeyami's dishes showcasing authentic African dishes through a modern lens.

Jolly Cole, founder of Shakara, comments: "Shakara was born from a simple concept: to export the African palate to the world while maintaining international standards.

"Our aim is to simultaneously entice the five senses...to provide our guests with the most memorable experience. Shakara offers a twist on contemporary dining with carefully curated ingredients, ambience and entertainment from Afro culture."
