Gunpowder announces India Club: Festival Edition

This year, Gunpowder, the Michelin Bib Gourmand Indian restaurant from Harneet Baweja, will introduce the Festival Edition of its India Club.
Held on the last Sunday of each month, chef-patron Nirmal Save will create a sharing menu inspired by a different Indian festival.

Starting this month and celebrating Lohri, a festival marking the end of winter and the arrival of the harvest season, the exclusive menu will feature dishes inspired by the season alongside sweets like tilgul and gajak.
Moving into February, Gunpowder will honour the traditions of Soufi Darbar, which is celebrated in the northern regions of India. The menu will draw inspiration from the foods of the Sufi tradition, such as slow-cooked meats and fragrant rice dishes.
May’s offering will be inspired by The Moatsu Festival, a celebration from the northeastern states of Nagaland at the end of the harvest season. The feasting menu will include a selection of Naga-inspired dishes.
July’s menu will show the many ways mango is used in Indian cooking, paying tribute to the king of fruits for the International Mango Festival, celebrated across India during the warmer months.
In August, the India Club will honour Lord Ganesha with a menu for Ganesh Chaturthi, a 10-day Hindu festival marking the birth of the elephant-headed deity – the god of prosperity and wisdom. The menu will spotlight the festival with traditional sweets, puran poli and a feast of vegetarian dishes.
“The Festival Edition of our India Club is an evolution of what we've been doing over the past year at Gunpowder, where we've been highlighting dishes from lesser-known regions across the country," says Baweja. "Festivals have always been an important part of Indian culture and cuisine, offering an opportunity to experience the country's diversity.”
