Carmel launches breakfast offering this week

Brothers Josh and Paul Katz and Mattia Bianchi, the team behind Berber & Q and Shawarma Bar, are launching a breakfast offering at Eastern Mediterranean restaurant Carmel this Friday (8 April).

Following its opening in November last year, the Queen's Park restaurant will now welcome diners from 9am Friday–Sunday. The breakfast menu will draw on Josh's passion for cooking with fire, with plates including shakshuka with grilled pepper, avocado and labneh and turmeric-fried eggs with pickled shallots, spinach and tamarind. Josh's take on the Tunisisan sandwich will also feature, including confit tuna, pumpkin tershi, preserved lemon aioli and egg.

Those who fancy something sweeter can choose porridge with cardamom milk, saffron-poached pear and candied hazelnut; granola with blackberry candied quince and Greek yoghurt; or fluffy French toast stuffed with rose malabi, grilled grapes and molasses.

The lunch menu extends to offer a range of sourdough flatbreads, freshly baked in the restaurant's tabun oven and topped with a range of ritating seasonal ingredients.

Drinks will be curated by Bianchi, including the 'Bloody Pasilla', Carmel's take on a Bloody Mary, made with Ayuuk spirit infused with horseradish and Pasilla sauce, as well as a selection of fresh-pressed, seasonal juices made daily on site, teas and freshly roasted coffee.

For those wanting to dine al fresco, Carmel also now offers a 30 seater sunny terrace, overlooking the bustling street.
