Nakanojo expands with second site in the capital

Nikkei restaurant Nakanojo will launch its second site in the capital, bringing its offer to Thayer Street in Marylebone

Due to open in early 2023, the launch forms part of the restaurant group's continued expansion plan, with more London locations planned for next year. Nakanojo was founded in 2021 by hospitality entrepreneur Josh Ahmet.

The second site for the premium-casual dining group will sit alongside the inaugural King's Road venue, which opened in summer 2021. The Izakaya brand takes its name, Nakanojo, from its namesake town in Japan, with a food and beverage offering that merges the cultures and cuisine of Japan and Peru.

The restaurant offers a range of Nikkei-inspired dishes such as sushi, ceviches and tacos, which sit alongside drinks including pisco sours, a variety of sake and signature Bobas cocktails.

The 2,000sq ft Marylebone site will cater for up to 100 covers across two floors. Each table can expect dishes designed for sharing, with the restaurant promoting a more sociable dining experience. Hero dishes include chicken kara-age served coated in chipotle mayo and red onion; the taco fiesta, which offers a range of fillings such as pulled pork pibil, wagyu carne asada, salmon ceviche and portobello tataki; and the sea bass ceviche with a blend of coconut leche de tigre, red onion, mango salsa and canchas.
