KORA by Tom Kitchin partners with Mission Christmas

Bruntsfield restaurant and bar KORA by Tom Kitchin has partnered with charity campaign Mission Christmas, helping to ensure that children living in poverty across the city will wake up to a gift on Christmas morning.
The collaborative fundraising with Cash for Kids’ annual Mission Christmas campaign launched on 1 December. The KORA team has committed to donating £2 for every guest dining for lunch and dinner at the restaurant between 1–18 December. The 18-day campaign aims to raise funds to help ensure local children living in poverty across Edinburgh can open a present on Christmas day, at a time when many would otherwise go without.
KORA, a 65-cover restaurant, was recognised in the Michelin Guide earlier this month. The restaurant sees a high volume of guests dining every month and it is expected that the partnership will raise significant donations to help the Mission Christmas team buy even more gifts for even more children this year.
Mission Christmas aims to improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people in local communities who are affected by poverty, illness, neglect or have additional needs. The campaign, run by Cash for Kids, aims to help Santa reach those children and calls on local communities, businesses and organisations to donate funds, or new and unwrapped presents.
Chef Tom Kitchin comments: "The work that Mission Christmas does is invaluable. This year it will be tougher than ever for many families, and Christmas will be something a number of people just can’t afford. We’re working closely with the team at Mission Christmas to ensure as many local children as possible are made to feel special on Christmas morning. We hope our guests will join us at the restaurant and help us reach our ambitious funding targets."
Victoria Hendry, charity manager from Cash for Kids, adds: “We are absolutely delighted to be working with the team at KORA by Tom Kitchin over the coming weeks and can’t thank them enough for choosing to support our Mission Christmas campaign.
"We can’t stand the thought of a child waking up to nothing on Christmas morning and this is absolutely what our campaign is about. Making children feel loved, cared for and that someone has thought of them. The funds raised from KORA’s initiative will allow us to purchase gifts for age groups where we see a deficit - usually age nine plus. A huge thank you to the team and their guests for choosing to dine with KORA and in turn supporting Cash for Kids and children living on our doorstep."
