Julie's to return next spring

Julie's, the celebrated Holland Park restaurant, will reopen its doors in spring 2024, returning to West London's culinary scene under new ownership.

First opened in 1969 by acclaimed interior designer Julie Hodges, Julie's became an instant hit with actors, fashion icons, artists and royalty. It remained a stalwart of the city's hospitality landscape until it closed its doors on New Year's Eve 2022.

The reimagined restaurant, under the direction of new owner Tara MacBain – a Holland Park resident, Cordon Bleu trained chef and long-standing Julie's regular – will relaunch as a modern French brasserie, offering 160 covers across a ground floor dining room and bar, basement dining area and alfresco terrace.

MacBain will put together an all-day dining menu consisting of decadent seafood towers and oysters sourced from the UK and France, along with a theatrical martini trolley that will offer a customised tableside cocktail experience. Wines will be sourced from renowned international wineries along with lesser-known emerging brands.

To reinvent the brand for a new generation, interior designer Rosanna Bossom will breathe new life into the space with warm yellow and gold tones. Guests will be greeted by a bespoke chandelier made from hammered cast iron leaves and an oyster shell-decorated bar.

"I feel so grateful for the opportunity to imagine this iconic restaurant, especially one that is so close to my heart," says MacBain. "Julie's has become a West London institution and I look forward to continuing its legacy. It is also no coincidence that our launch team consists almost entirely of West Londoners – it is so important to me that everyone involved in the project still holds Julie's to the same esteem and that we continue its unique story. I am so excited to welcome both original fans and a new generation of diners through our doors."
