Tom Brown announces closure of Cornerstone

Chef Tom Brown has confirmed the upcoming closure of his Hackney restaurant, six years after its launch.

The famed fish restaurant, Cornerstone, showcased Brown's seasonal, produce-driven cooking. Cult dishes such as the crab crumpets and hake Kiev helped win the venue critical acclaim and a Michelin star.

Pearly Queen

Citing the high running costs of a tasting menu concept and diners' changing preferences, Brown now feels his energy is best directed to his latest opening, Pearly Queen. This new venture is a relaxed oyster and fish restaurant in Shoreditch, which launched to critical acclaim earlier this year.

"Cornerstone has been my proudest moment, and it still fills my heart with pride to reflect on what it represents for me, the people who have worked here and those we have had the pleasure of serving," says Brown. "As well as being my home for the last six years, it has been a place where I have had the privilege of working with some of London's greatest talent, including head chef James Toth, and Kelly Cullen.

"Now, I'm excited about the future of Pearly Queen and what we're doing there, and exploring new projects in the future too!"
