New kiosk restaurant and wine bar coming to Margate

Ryan Jacovides, founder of the restaurant and wine bar Pomus, which opened last summer at The Centre, Margate, has announced he will launch a little sister site, Pom on The Pier, on the Harbour Arm in Margate on 18 April.

Located next door to Margate foodie favourite Sargasso, Pom on The Pier (or Pom for short) will open from midday to sunset, Friday to Sunday, with longer opening hours planned throughout the summer months. Offering up to 30 seats on the outside terrace, Pom will provide a great spot to enjoy good wine and food with friends.

Decked out in Pomus green, akin to its sibling site, Pom will be very much wine-focused, serving a concise on-tap list curated by Jacovides himself, alongside a collection of classic summer cocktails, such as the house signature Pom rum punch, and local craft beer.

Food comes courtesy of Pomus’ head chef Aaron Costen, who has developed a menu of bar snacks, including corn ribs, agave yoghurt and fermented chilli, fritto misto with squid aioli and Pomus’ best-seller, the much-lauded chicken karaage with maple syrup and togarashi. Soft serve ice-cream sundaes with a host of creative and colourful toppings will be offered for dessert.
